Gay (MM) Romance

I’m shook, y’all. For real. This week’s read left me feeling some kinda way. Call it a Coincidence by Nathaniel Scott is one of those reads where I found myself at a complete loss for words as I turned off my Kindle. I also went immediately to the author’s Twitter page and found myself heaving a huge sigh of relief when I saw him mentioning a sequel in the works. Because, yes, I need more. Much, much more.

LGBTQ+ New Adult Contemporary Romance

Okay, my lovelies. I’mma ‘bout to get real with y’all. This week’s book left me feeling some feelings. Crazy, all over the board feelings. It was intense. Like, had me screaming at my eReader and threatening to throw it to its doom more than once kinda intense. But also the kind where I basically became non-functional at work and had to molest my spouse as soon as I got home. And the kind where I got all weepy and slobbery and… Okay, yeah, maybe I should start by introducing the book, yeah? 🤣 Playing Around by Suzanne Clay is yet another hit-it-outta-the-park release by NineStar Press. (It isn’t just their covers I adore.)

Young Adult Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance

Welcome to another Off Theme Review, my lovelies! This week’s read was an utterly fantastic Young Adult ghost story from Entangled Teen by one of my Speilburg Literary Agency sisters in arms! As many of you know, YA reads are a bit of a struggle for me. However, Rachel Rust’s 8 Souls was superbly handled. The characters were believable for their age—not overly adult or painfully young—and their interactions and relationships felt true to the high school age group.

The tagline, “A Dark Fantasy Lesbian Romance” is a perfect descriptor, and yet somehow manages to leave a few important nuances out.

LGBTQIA+ Literary Fiction

H’okay, my lovelies, this week’s read was a rough one. I’ve said it a dozen times before, and will say it a dozen+ more times… I’m a romance writer/reader at heart, so anything outside that genre often throws my HEA-centric heart for a loop. 😂 Alicia Sophia’s 1, 4, 3 is touted as LGBTQIA+ literary fiction and, ho boy, is it ever. Published by RhetAskew Publishing and nominated for a Lambda Literary Award, this lit fic dives deep and dark and doesn’t pull any punches. To put it simply, it’s heartbreakingly superb.
